Once upon this wicked land,

GOD sent to us the son of man,

Born in a manger of a virgin birth,

Lay the King of Kings over heaven and earth,

The poorest of poor so humbly,

A carpenter Christ chose to be,

To him GOD's spirit descended on,

When baptized in Jordan by the hands of John,

Then twelve he chose to follow him,

To help GOD's word reach all of men,

He raised the dead and healed the sick,

Cast demons back to Satan's pit,

With but two fish and five loaves of bread,

Over five thousand Christ once fed,

Betrayed by one the soldiers came,

Three times another denied his name,

Pilate left his fate to the hands of men,

Who with thunderous roar yelled "crucify Him",

To save the world at all cost,

Christ selflessly bore our cross,

Whipped, beaten, and spat upon,

Humiliated with a crown of thorns,

Down his broken body the blood it ran,

Every drop was shed for man,

This blood he shed for you and me,

So the pit of hell we would not see,

Once upon this wicked land,

God sent to us the son of man.
