It’s more than the uniform
Or the desire placed before they were born
With speeding cars and there unique horns
Being left behind while others morn
Dealing with violence and neglect
Only trying to serve and protect
Trying to locate and question the suspect
Never feeling love or respect
Sometimes with nothing but a badge or a stick
All the blood and guts that will make most sick
The drunk or the high in it for the kick
The john’s or the hooker’s looking for a trick
But not all is bad with need for a gun
Being in uniform can mean some fun
It’s not always the bad that keeps them on the run
It’s the times when there is hope while looking to the Son
It’s when the kids look up to them that makes them feel warm
A smile, a hug, and thank you of some form
Because after all
It’s more than the Uniform
