Dear Friend:

Do you know that anger can be compared to a storm? Someone is rude to you, causing you to get irritated = raindrops. A little later on you go through an experience that aggravates you and you start to get aggravated = pouring rain. During the same day, you find out that the answer you had been waiting for so long is not the one you expected and you begin to grumble. Now you are going through rain, thunder and lightning.

Remember the person who was rude to you earlier in the day? Well that same person approaches you, accusing you of something you did not do. Boy, don’t you feel angry? Here comes the full blown storm! Full blown storms can be harmful. They often cause destruction and at times can take a life. Anger does the same thing. Ever hear of crimes of passion?

Cain killed his brother in a fit of jealousy. Jealousy is a dangerous emotion that produces anger. It will trap you and take you places where you don’t want to be. Cain was filled with animosity toward his brother because he believed that God had preference for him. If Cain would have offered the sacrifice that God was looking for, he would have been cool. At harvest time Cain brought to the LORD a gift of his farm produce, but He did not accept Cain and his offering. This made Cain very angry and dejected. "Why are you so angry?" the LORD asked him. "Why do you look so dejected? Later Cain suggested to his brother, Abel, "Let's go out into the fields." And while they were there, Cain attacked and killed his brother.

Your emotions can be your friend or your enemy. If you start feeling irritated, sad or angry take some time out to figure out what is going on with you. You might want to talk to someone you are close to or consult a professional. When you find the cause of your troubled feelings, you need to deal with it.

If you are a child of God (you have accepted His only Son, Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior) remember that you can give Him your troubles and He will be there to show you how to fix them. If you don’t know Jesus then I suggest that you talk to Him. Ask Him to come into your heart. Don’t you know that if you are not serving Him, you are satan’s toy. He will play with your emotions until you get into some deep trouble. Not only that, there is one of two places that you will go to when you die. You probably already know this but just in case you don’t, you will either go to everlasting reward in the Kingdom of God or the eternal place of punishment Think about it!
