The ache of love.
The ache...
Of a love that is given
And unreturned.
Love bleeds
When it goes unreturned.

Crushed is the heart,
By the thorn
Of the rose...

The ache of love.
The ache...
Of a love that is unwanted
And spurned.
Love bleeds
When it goes unreturned.

Crushed is the heart,
By the thorn
Of the rose...

But for the chance
To linger,
Somewhere between the heights of ecstasy
And the deepest depths of torment.
Where the ache of loving
Is found in the yearning.

But for the chance
To wander,
Somewhere between the lures of fulfillment
And the gnawing pangs of starvation.
Where the ache of loving
Is found in the hunger.

But for the chance
To embrace,
The weights of such need.
Where the heart is willing
To be crushed
And torn
By the thorn
Of the rose...
