Avoid Inappropriate Behavior

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. Ephesians 5:3-4 NIV

Here Paul speaks of some of the mannerisms of the worldly, and lets us know that these mannerisms cannot be part of the life of a Christian.

Sexual immorality and impurity have no place in God’s kingdom. God is holy and righteous; thus, impurity cannot stand in His presence. These are acts of the flesh. Our body is to be the temple of the Lord.

Obscenity, foolish talk, and coarse joking are also not in God’s kingdom. This type of talk is degrading, and certainly not upbuilding and uplifting. That which comes from our mouth must be said in love. We must speak to others as we would wish them to speak to us.

If we catch ourselves in any of these inappropriate mannerisms, we need to approach the Lord, asking Him for forgiveness. We must ask the Lord to guide us in His ways, and to protect us from acting as the worldly act.

May the Lord find purity and holiness within us who believe in Him.

One who is greedy thinks of themselves, and of hoarding. We, as Christians are to be servants of all and share with one another. This works toward the advancement of God’s kingdom.
