The biggest asset and the reason of our pride.
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
John 4:10 NKJV
What is the greatest asset we have? Such on which we can boast, the reason of our pride?
For many it could be their education, social status, wealth and fame, family status etc.
Or for many it could be their friends and relatives, their society and their community.
Pride from all the above variables would emerge from the comfort and blessedness we experience from them, however not forgetting the fact that they are inconsistent and the joy we really need is beyond what we receive from them.
Let’s see what the Lord instructs us in His precious Word about what should be the reason of our pride.
Thus says the Lord:
“Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;
But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight,” says the Lord.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 NKJV
A person need nothing more to stand strong and victorious than to know the Lord God (Mind well! It is not to know more about God, rather to know the Lord God personally).
The Bible has few examples of people who know their God.
Job:
Troubled much and suffering to the extent that he literally lost all what and who belonged to him and lying amidst his own sores and scars this is what Job had to say….
“For I know that my Redeemer lives,…” Job 19:25 NKJV
Joshua:
Having served the Lord faithfully and having experienced His providence, deliverances and miracles, this is what Joshua had to say on behalf of himself and his family.
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:15 NKJV
David:
Included in one of the best Psalms (Psalm 23) is this blessed affirmation for God’s faithfulness even in troubled times:
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 23:4 NKJV
Knowing Him Who dwells in us and leads us by His strength and power, there is no greater privilege and pride than this.
And they who know the Lord our God and go to Him, let’s not forget this….
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
Thus to know the Lord our God and to believe in His goodness is the biggest asset we can ever have and which will be the reason of our pride always.
Let this be true for and about us…
“but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.”
Daniel 11:32 NKJV
