New Life

New life brings tears, beautiful ones, and they fell like roses from all their eyes when Jesus took His first breath.
Mary held her perfect baby and as she looked down into His face three men approached, with gifts, with honor and with obedience they barely understood.
The angels showed their joy in a song, in a dance and in the promise of God.
The 25th of December is more than the presents, more than the beautifully wrapped up trees and more than decorations; it’s about a light that was born so bright that the whole world couldn’t help but look.

As Jesus grew older so did the burning in His heart, a burning for us, a way to teach each one of us about a different kind of love, one we had never felt before.
He traveled all over to tell the story of His gracious Father and presented the idea of a new kind of life, one that would last forever.
He hungered for the souls of them all, even the ones who persecuted Him, He sought for them all to turn from darkness and follow Him.
Near and far He spread the allegory of God and some grew angry while others put their footsteps in Jesus’ and followed behind Him, the story putting meaning into their weary and dark lives.

Evil had a different plot, one of murder and hate, one that would put out the hopeful ray in a world as black as coal.
Animosity grew like boils in Jerusalem and it was decided to put an end to Jesus and His story of something greater, of something with meaning and hope, an end to telling the tale of God.
So He laid down His life on a tree, bore His blood to set us free from sin and punishment.
Whether through hateful eyes or grateful ones, the death of God’s only son was witnessed by many.
And there He hung, the epitome of perfect love, the only way to new life for you and me, there He hung…for all to scold, for all to love and for all to see.

Three days later Jesus came up from His grave, the scars of nails still in His hands, and set out to show His disciples so that they could understand and spread the wonderful word of God.
His deed was over and it was time for Him to join His Father once again, leaving trust in His men, that they might tell the world of Jesus, of a man who took our place and who pleaded for our forgiveness.
He laid down His life so that we could have a chance at a new life, one that gives us everything we need, one that’s bigger than the pain, than the darkness and one that offers a pure and spotless love; one we’ve never known before.
