I had a dream once, where I lay “asleep” on an ocean shore. When I came to, I looked around and saw that I was surrounded by black clouds and a dark-gray sky. The ocean was so black, you couldn’t tell where it ended and the sky began! Dazed and confused, suddenly a great serpent emerged from the waters. He seemed almost as tall as the sky and as ugly as the dragons and serpents described in fairy tales. I immediately got into a battle stance and readied my hands for my sword. There was only one problem…I HAD NO SWORD!
I woke up in panic mode. Was this a Revelation dream? Was I left behind? This sure sounded a lot like the serpent talked about in Revelation 13:1. Quite some time had passed since I had that dream when I asked a pastor to interpret it for me. He smiled lovingly and with ease said; “Child, maybe the “serpent” in your dream is a “giant” in your life; a “strong man.” But, it seems God’s telling you, you don’t have enough “sword” to fight it!” As we know from Ephesians 6:17, the “sword” is God’s word; the Holy Bible. God gave me a great revelation one day and said; “I never said your enemy doesn’t have access to the same sword!”
Consider Jesus when He said; “…the servant is not greater than the master.” In Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus was tempted by the devil with the word of God after he had fasted 40 days and 40 nights. It is very important that we realize what we’re up against in this spiritual war. Even in our personal lives, there are many opposing religions to the gospel of Christ who know our word better than we do! Remember, to “fight the good fight” as Paul said. If you’re a child of God, you’re already on the winning team but, we are all a-part of the body of Christ; sent here to fulfill God’s purpose. Make sure that when the trumpet sounds and glory comes, you can account for having done all you can to fight the good fight. Get into your word. This is spiritual training that helps you stand and resist the enemy. When you feel life is beating you down with trials and tribulations, maybe you should consider; “Who’s using your sword?”
