Read: James 2:1-13

1My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. 2For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, 3and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” 4have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?...

Everybody has a favorite something. Whether it's food, candy, sports team, etc. It's natural. I love college football. It's my favorite thing to watch. But James condemns acts of favoritism. We may treat a better dressed, well-mannered person better in church than the less fortunate one.

This attitude is sinful. God's views all His children as equals. We should follow His example. Remember to treat people as we want to be treated. So, next time you see people less fortunate than you, greet them with love and compassion. Like Jesus would do.

Prayer: Lord, I acknowledge that somehow, in some ways, I become very partial in treating others. Please accept my forgiveness and help me to pay equal attention to everyone I meet this day.
