I recently came across a video called The Known Universe. Even though it was produced primarily from a evolutionistic standpoint, as it sites the Big Bang Theory, it's an amazing representation of the incomprehensible scope of the universe. After watching it I was led to write a few lines about the awe-inspiring power of God and his creation.

I believe God created the Universe and everything within it. It did not happen by chance. The universe is too well ordered and too flawless to have formed by accident. This extraordinary video visually moves you outward through the universe from earth and back. Viewing this makes me appreciate how infinite and awe-inspiring the universe is, and how all-powerful God must have been, and is, to have created it.

When God formed the earth and the solar system surrounding it, he designed it so it would support life in all forms. God created the sun to not only emit life giving and sustaining light, but also to set in motion, in orchestra with other global undulations, constant currents of air around the earth. These air currents combined with various types and amounts of atmospheric elements, establish a continuous cycle of meteorological events we commonly call weather.

The complexities of these meteorological phenomena; clouds, rain, wind, thunderstorms, etc. resulted from the juxtaposition of differing atmospheric ingredients. Suffice it to say that without this ever changing progression of weather events, all forms of life would cease to exist. Being in the profession of meteorology for the better part of forty years it continues to be incomprehensible to me how well engineered and efficient our atmosphere actually is. This did not happen by accident.

I have observed and studied in depth all types of weather phenomena half way around the world for all of my adult life. One of the most, if not the most incomprehensible weather elements is wind. We can measure the wind, we can forecast the wind, we can feel the wind, and we can see what the wind can do; yet we cannot see it.

Wind can be beneficial; it helps to maintain the earth’s heat balance, and draws excess heat from the human body on a sultry summer day. Unquestionably wind also can be very destructive, but serves as an energy “exhaust valve” keeping a storm from growing to unfathomable proportions.

There are others things in our world that we can neither see nor touch, yet we accept them as part of our lives. Some things we believe in and depend on without tangible evidence of their existence. Yet with all the astonishing things around us that are absolutes, even within the confines of our very front yards, there are those who deny the existence of God.

Though we can neither see nor touch God, he is there, and we as believers know what he can do. Like the wind, God brings good things into our lives. So to God allows adversity, but wants to serve as our “exhaust valve”.
