Threesome

Jesus and I plus thee makes three,

Intertwined and interweaving—deep in love—

All of us bleeding something akin

To the same raw, heartsore cries of

Our yawning desires; our gaping

Minds—these we have related and

Understood to be kindred, like kind,

So have forced them together, all

Smashed up time after time.

You and he, unbeknownst to one another

The joint partakers in me,

How would you feel, so confused and

Bewildered, to approach you lady, just

To find her with another? Not

He your rival, but my dissonant

Heart is competing with thee, and

Thus must satiate itself between ye

O two of one heart and

Both beloved of me, find peace

Together in our complimentarity,

The incorporeality of him, your

Solid voice with me, and I, whatever

I am that entices the joining

Together of we- I plunge us

All down into darkness and deep recess

Where at last I am lost and

At your mercy, abandoned to

The kindness of your ways, leading me

To yourselves, and again,

Three minds at rest—born oft

By the trembling wings of soft

And reverent solitude—we

Embark on the quest of our

Being, to divide or to divest of

One or another or yet be compromised

Further and further till we lose

The light at the end of the tunnel

And in blackness find the numbness

Which we have sought so long

To avoid, the fire which freezes,

Which looks black and gives no warmth,

The very pit of un-meaning and lostness…

Teetering too close on such fragile wings

We hang, remain, suspended…as three.
