You would certainly agree with me if I tell you our Lord Jesus was perfect all the days of his life but if I tell you that you could become perfect you may probably not agree with me because man is not perfect. Irrespective of what your reaction could be, the truth still remains that man could and would one day be perfect again. I discovered that there are 3 kinds of perfection and I would like to share on that. The first kind is the perfection of Adam before he fell, the second is the perfection of mortal saints and the third is that of the perfected saints in heaven.
The Perfection of Adam
Adam was indeed perfect before he fell into sin. He was God`s image and the glory of God covered him wherever he went. He was indeed perfect but his perfection was not full for he had not eaten of the fruit of the tree of life and had not grown in his perfection. Therefore his wisdom and discernment was limited. He had not grown into a full man in the Lord whose senses are developed/exercised to discern between evil and good. He was a baby man, a man who became a full grown man in one day. So, when temptation came he could not withstand or resist it. Therefore he fell and lost his perfection (divine attributes, immortality etc.). He was definitely not like Jesus, the last Adam who learned obedience through his sufferings and later redeemed man
The Perfection of mortal saints
If you go through the bible, you would definitely find some saints who were said to be perfect. They were definitely not flawless all their lives but they were men that served God with all their hearts. The love of God occupied their heart so their weakness became very minimal. They were said to be perfect because they pleased God in every area of their lives. Many saints alive today are like that. Though our bodies are not yet glorified, immortal, incorruptible and perfected yet we please God in our flesh to the glory of his holy name.
The Perfection of Saints in Heaven
These ones are perfect; their perfection is like that of Christ. They are crowned with the perfection of perfections. They are so pure that they see God. They have spiritual glorified or perfected bodies being clothed with an heavenly tabernacle. They cannot sin again; their spirits have been perfected and a new body have been given to them. They have free access to the tree of life.
We would be like them someday. Amen. I desire that and I know you all desire that too. That we may be clothed with our heavenly tabernacle and eat freely from the tree of life. John, the beloved said - whoever hath this hope in him purifies himself even as he is pure. If we believe and act according to God`s will for our lives I believe we would get there. One day, we would be perfect and we would forget all about the sorrow, fears, miseries and troubles of this world. Selah.
