We use doors to block something out that we do not want to face. My sister wanted to believe she was an only child. In a house with three other siblings that is difficult to do. She would go into her room and shut the door. As long as we stayed on the other side, she could make-believe we did not exist.
I tend to think of doors as opportunities. Each one you open has someone or something waiting behind it. I am not expecting each discovery to be wonderful and exhilarating. In fact, many times I do not like what is on the other side. I am aware that I cannot be like my little sister, living out my entire life in one room avoiding all the challenges, trials, and growing opportunities that are behind each door.
God has not made me to sit in a safe haven and watch everyone else live. Instead, I am to face the unknown behind each door and learn from what I find. If I keep Him close and my mind on Him and His Word, the triumphs or failures waiting for me behind each door only make me stronger and more useful to him. With God as my strength and wisdom, I can face any door and walk through it.
