In this fast pace world we live in today, peace is hard to find. There are so many things that require our time and attention that to sit down and relax and have a peaceful moment for one's self is few and far between.
Drugs have become the only thing most people know that can bring any kind of peace to their busy stressful life.
Drugs have become rampant in our society today because everyone wants some peace in their life. They don't know how to get peace any other way so they take drugs trying to find some quietness from all the stress that surrounds them. It has gotten to where it’s the old as well as the young and everyone in between that use drugs. It may be drugs prescribed by a Doctor or bought on the street. But they are getting them.
As the title of this article says; there is a sure way to have peace. God always has a way for us to obtain the things we need, and peace is no exception.
We read in Isaiah 26:3, the way to have not only peace, but perfect peace. It says; Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee.
The key to having this perfect peace is to keep your mind stayed on the Lord. That means to not think about anything contrary to what the Lord has said. If we get to thinking the Bible may not be right this time; or it don't look like things are working out the way the Lord said, then our mind has gotten away from what God has said. It is not stayed on Him.
The word stayed means; to not move from your present place, don't leave, don't turn, live, abide, to hold fast, continue there, wait in a place, and don't go any place else. That's pretty plain, isn't it? This is how we are to keep our mind on the Lord.
If we will do this, we will have perfect peace in the midst of trouble because the Lord delivers us out of trouble. We'll remember that and stay in peace. When the stresses of everyday life come, we'll remember that he gives us peace in the midst of a storm and stay peaceful knowing everything is alright regardless of the circumstances right now. This is how to keep your mind stayed on Him.
Isn't it wonderful to know God has an answer to everything we need?
This scripture in Isaiah was given long before Jesus ever was born. So those under the old covenant could have peace also. But when Jesus was here he said in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: Not as the world giveth, give I unto you".
Jesus gave us his peace and he said it's not the peace that the world gives. That is good to know that his peace is real peace not temporary like the world's. So here under the new covenant we have even more peace given to us along with the peace they had under the old covenant. So there's no doubt we can have that perfect peace. The world can't give you peace, but Jesus can.
The next time you feel pressure from the everyday things in your life, remember to focus and keep your mind stayed on the Lord and what he has said about peace. He'll give you peace that passes all understanding and what a great gift that is to have in this world of stress that everyone lives under today.
