It is said that the earth and all that is in it along with the planets discovered and undiscovered came from a 'big bang', and that what we are today evolved over millions of years. Evolution they tell us is a tremendous occurrence.
When I consider the fingers that are typing this article, the nails that protect and grasp the tiniest article, the ability to touch, the wonderful feeling when a grandchild grasps your one finger with their whole hand. How the fingers bend, the grip they have, and each fingerprint a witness as to the individuality of the body to which it belongs. Constantly being used and the outer skin renewed, but never wearing out the fingerprint that identifies me. How the same fingers can do the roughest manual task, yet perform the most delicate assignment. Indeed some people's fingers can operate on the human body performing amazing surgery on the tiny heart of an infant. While a rugged seaman’s fingers will grasp a rough freezing rope and pull a fellow seaman to safety from the wild stormy sea.
That is only the finger, and indeed a tiny part of the tasks it can perform. The piano music, as fingers slip across the keys tapping out a tune that can set feet dancing, or lift the drooping spirits of those in despair. The artists brush as it glides across the canvas, with dashes of colour that will enthral countless hosts for years to come. The human body is an encyclopaedia in itself, with all its veins, muscles, tissue, fat, blood, sinews and a whole host of other mentionable and unmentionable parts, each performing their own special function in harmony with the rest of the body. The senses are a volume in themselves. Eyes, like the fingerprints, each one having an identity all on its own. Ears filled with vibrating hairs. Taste and smell each having its own peculiarities bringing so much joy to human life.
Evolution; all of this brought about by a big bang, I find it much easier, much more believable that a loving father God, choose to bring the world into being crafted by his own design. To create in his own likeness a people who will fill earth and heaven with the praise of his name now and forever more. You can claim your decadency from an ape if you like, but this body of mine came from dust to which it will return, but my spirit shall soar to meet the one who said let there be light, and that light has been switched on in my soul.
