I can remember making New Year’s resolutions that seemed to go well for the first week of the New Year, but eventually went sour as the month of January progressed.
What about “losing weight” resolutions? Oh my! Those come a dime a dozen. I’ve broken so many of these resolutions that it’s absolutely pathetic. Starving myself to death gets old quickly and salads only taste good for the first few days, after that I begin to feel like a silly rabbit.
Resolutions are decisions made with our minds. Getting our bodies to line up with what our minds are thinking takes some very serious actions. Our bodies get bored very easily. Our bodies are lazy and basically have a mind of their own. They hate working if the pay is not good or the results are not worth all the strenuous activity. It almost gets to a point where you have to trick your body into believing this thing will work.
In order to make a resolution work, one must have a firm inner determination. If a person is firm in their decision, they will command their body to get in gear with the program.
Determination is an awesome quality for a person to possess. Determination gets things done. Determination overrides any desires that say, “We can’t do this.” Determination says, “We can do this and much more!” Determination in a person will bring success.
Are resolutions really possible? The answer is yes. Resolutions are possible if the individual has set his mind to do what he has resolved to do and has determined within himself to go for it no matter what.
Don’t be discouraged if you have failed to succeed regarding resolutions that you have made in the past. Today is a new day! Pick yourself up by your bootstraps and try, try again.
I would also suggest that you apply prayer to your resolution. Ask the Lord to help you and cause you to succeed in your new venture. Allow Him to work with you in all that you do and you will find yourself on a wonderful road of success and victory.
