The ancient, gnarled giant stood
The keeper of daydreams.
Initials carved into bark,
Sweethearts lasting spot to mark
The holder of secrets.
As the wind agilely blew,
The grace of a dancer true
The master of beauty.
Rising up in the tree’s swing,
Inspiration took to wing
The maker of legends.
Soaking in life’s magic mood,
Feeling refreshed and renewed
The mender of heartbreak.
Nestled in its branches high,
Owls hoot sweet lullabies
The guarder of nighttime.
Stargazer to the dark skies,
As the moon began to rise
The viewer of heaven.
In the hallow of the trunk,
Squirrels hidden nuts were sunk
The giver of fodder.
Green leaves faded brown and red,
Tucking autumn into bed
The watcher of seasons.
Under a blanket of white,
Visions of angels took flight
The builder of promise.
Steadfast and rooted in Him,
Joy exuded from every limb
The shelter of being.
