I am "selfie" dumb and dumbfounded. I sit here, laptop on my protesting stomach - composing a missive I will send to anyone bored enough to read it. Perhaps someone will be less vulnerable to self worship. The term "selfie" dumb refers to the absurd enjoyment of seeing my mug all over the website displayed in activities heretofore dis-able to accomplish.
I discovered and was unwisely drawn to an internet site that I immediately succumbed to, so self-absorbed, so drawn in to slowly suffocate in its welcoming quicksand.
I sit here, justifying the hours spent far from my true calling - writing golden prose. Hmm - this also draws me into realms of self-being, looking to see my name in print. I commuted, express the expression - from entertaining others to entertaining myself. Selfishness does come to mind. But rather than boring you with the seductive details, I will attempt to rationalize, defend and wheedle my way into your caring and understanding hearts, the clinging passion that cloaks me in self.
This website offers me untold riches. I can, through old photographs, "resurrect" my loving parents who are presently "asleep", awaiting God's true Resurrection at The Judgment Seat of the Christ.
I can copy, crop and create little photos of my timeless parents square dancing. This is so bizarre - they never square danced, to my recollection. I can cast photos of my fella and me forty years ago - looking so perfect, so unfinished and wrinkle-free. The bodies they are cast into are amazing.
I cast my lover and me in a wee video that Sonny and Cher made: "I Got You Babe." We, in reality in matching power chairs can actually dance and sing without missteps vocally and - well, no two left feet. I am shamefacedly addicted to "jibjab" - such a catchy title. It entices and promises delights that reach beyond the grave.
I find that I can paste pictures of friends, family and even my cat. I send little tantalizing videos to mostly unappreciative friends. I post/cast them in a favored beach video, where they frolic and dance on the hot sand, fight off sharks and wind up swallowed by a purple whale hiding in the shallows.
Would you like me to cast you in this fun beach video ?Walking in Sunshine"? You will have so much fun, wiggling your little toesies in the hot sand - and in the shallows. I promise you will have a whale of tale to tell ye lads . . .
This is a too true story of a weak soul.
