Topic: Curiosity Killed the Cat (10/10/13)
Nobody really knows how it made me feel. It was cataclysmic; not only for me, but for everybody. Painful, destructive and everything changed from that point on. Nothing would ever be the same again. I made a stupid choice and will spend eternity trying to fathom out why. And I don't think I will ever know.

Sure temptation played a huge part in the whole deal. Who wouldn't be tempted? Put a million dollars in front of someone in financial trouble, and temptation is given wings. If you are a comfort eater, food can be a demon that controls your life. Temptation rears its ugly head in most of our lives.

A drug addict is dragged back into his next battle every time life hits a bumpy road. A drinker struggles all over again when he and his spouse argue; or when the pressures at work hit the release valve, but the valve is stuck and the steam has nowhere to go. So yes, temptation played a huge part; but it wasn't everything. Curiosity also had a major role in it all.

I had been told two different stories. One, that it was a dangerous game. I was warned. Don't go there. But everyone knows there are always two sides to a coin. And I wanted to see the other side -- besides, it looked very different. It contained promise.

If it was the right side, then the world would become my oyster. If it wasn't, then could it really be all that bad? And that was the question. Who was right and who was wrong? There was only one way to find out; take the bite and give it a go.

Could I help it if I had an inquisitive mind? Doesn't curiosity drive you mad too? Will this happen, or will that happen? What happens when you push the button? Curiosity was certainly pushing my buttons.

Come on! Push it and see!

So I did. I bit the apple.

Two things happened that day. Sadly I found out that God was right. And secondly, curiosity didn't only kill the cat -- death entered the world for the whole human race.

Oohh you did an outstanding job of building the suspense. You also had a great twist. I often see endings coming so I am delighted when one takes me by surprise and you did just that. You've come so far in such a short time! I was honored to use your poem, Wake up and Dream in my church newsletter. This story grabbed me on the onset. I had no clue it was going to end like it did--that's good writing when the ending is a real zinger to the reader. Congrats on your EC placement.
