Instead of seeking shelter
In the arms of He who loves--
Easy prey for evil smelters.
Worry rides sulfuric waves
That belch from demon pits,
Fear and Doubt, a trio make--
They steal time with hellish wit.
Worry keeps one paralyzed
Hope dies like Autumn leaves,
A job is lost, a marriage fails--
Darkness cackles though one grieves.
Doubt whispers through the cracks of
Souls that often get confused,
Manipulation enters in--
“Too easy” Doubt chants, amused.
Fear’s footsteps stomp out dreams
While magnifying sorrows,
Overwhelmed by circumstance--
Fear robs one of tomorrows.
This trio, each a glutton
For the days that are your number,
Vile parasites, but in disguise--
Their goal in life-- encumber.
Time--spend it wisely
With whom, on what--your choice,
Make the time to listen
To that inner godly voice.
And if it’s unfamiliar--
Sort of foreign to your ears,
Talk to Him, then surrender
All your worries, doubts and fears.
Within that sweet surrender
Peace will fill time’s voided space,
Refreshment comes, He paid the price--
And that is known as grace.
