Lived Bugle Boy Bob with his big yellow dog
Now Bugle Boy Bob was a right jolly lad
He never complained and never was sad
Bugle Boy Bob loved to play in the sun
He would play with his bugle and play with his drum
But the thing he most loved, the thing he loved most
Was to play with his dog with the odd name Bebost
They would run through the streets and run through the town
Shouting out loud and jubilant sounds
But the thing they most feared, the thing they did dread
Was Larry the Liar and the gang that he led
Larry cared not for Bugle Boy Bob
He wanted his toys and wanted his dog
For fun he would pummel, pick on, and punch
Bugle Boy Bob till he ran from the bunch
The day of our story was bright full of sun
Bugle Boy Bob took his dog out for fun
Hours went by; they were happy and free
Till they came ‘round a corner and Larry did see
Larry the Liar, his face in a smirk
Lifted his hands; he got ready for work
He whistled his gang and when they came near
They gathered around and at Bugle Boy sneered
Bugle Boy Bob was a scared sitting duck
He begged for some mercy but Larry still struck
Down to the ground, a mouthful of dirt
Bugle Boy Bob was seriously hurt
Larry the Liar took off like a flash
Deny this he would, he declared as he dashed
Bugle Boy Bob spat the dirt out in haste
It tasted like sawdust, charcoal, and paste
The very next day, Bugle Boy had a thought
He knew of a way to get Larry to stop
He’d make him a cake, a cake he would bake
The ingredients he pondered; it kept him awake
The day after that, Larry’s doorbell he rang
When the door opened up, there stood the whole gang
Larry’s face filled with fright at Bugle Boy’s visit
The look on his face was very explicit
Bugle Boy Bob held the cake up with pride
Larry the Liar had now to decide
This might be a trick, he searched for a clue
Accept it or not? What was he to do?
At long last he lifted the fork to his face
And found himself feasting on a fabulous taste
The frosting oozed out of his mouth in a dribble
The gang all rushed in; they wanted a nibble
Why the cake was delicious, it simply was grand
Then Bugle Boy Bob slowly reached out his hand
The cake turned to sludge in Larry’s full mouth
His shame headed north, his anger went south
Larry the Liar, his gang alongside
Shook Bugle Boy’s hand; a new pact was alive
They knew they were jerks and always had been
Why Bugle Boy Bob just wanted some friends!
So they all made amends, amends they did make
And to think all it took was simply a cake

I kept thinking this was going to be about blue jeans... Isn't or wasn't there a jean bran called Bugle Boy? lol
Loved the ending. And I'm glad Larry came around.
