2006 Annual Report

With the 4th quarter fast approaching and no end in sight to the recession, Garren Teed and I have come up with an enhancement to the usual annual report presented to the stockholders at the big end-of-year party.

As you know, we use a spreadsheet/bar graph combination that displays the figures for the year, and we normally play some soft music in the background. In the past that has been fine because we have always had good news for our stockholders and the Chairman of the Board. But this year we need to be more creative. Dancing girls will come jumping out of the spreadsheet to distract from one kind of figure to another. If you desire, we can create an upbeat spreadsheet that will sing about how wonderful the company is, without ever talking about how dismally we have done this year. We can choose from a variety of genres from Bing Crosby to Madonna, from Taylor Hicks to Black Eyed Peas (Garren is working on rendering a realistic form of their lead singer; he is quite excited about that one!)

Personally I believe this is a spectacular advance in mathematics and music. It has been thought all along that music is basically numbers anyway, and seeing humans respond so positively to music and it can influence their very moods, what better way to manipulate the data than to put it to music and let it ‘speak’ (or in this case sing) for itself.

I have left the best for last – the new software actually produces a company anthem! That’s right, just input the figures from the last X number of years and the software converts the numbers to a lyrical anthem. Admittedly right now the anthem starts off strong and then peters out into a high squeal, but once we have the dancing girls working correctly we can cover a multitude of sins. Alternatively, I am convinced we can solve the squeaks and squeals with some creative number crunching.

Numbers are just that, numbers and we certainly don’t want our stockholders to worry about silly old numerals and balance sheets when they should be coming in and enjoying themselves. Imagine what companies like World.com and Tyco could have done with software like this?

So, bring out the choreographed and graphic dancing girls and let the company’s new anthem ring out loud and clear for all hear!
