Life is a long distance swim
Birth to death tossed by wind
Currents that lead who knows where
Doldrums without any air

If only the ocean was pleasant
The duration of our expedition
But storms are part of the story
And drowning the doorway to glory

Riptides of trouble guaranteed
Whirlpools of grief seaweed
Snatching and grabbing beneath
Pulling us down by the feet

Give in and drown to the pain
Give in and drown everyday
Give in and drown to your rights
Then learn how to swim through life

In the deep lessons are learned
How to swim in every current
In the depths God waits for each one
With grace and mercy and love

Swim everyday you can
Swim in the palm of His hand
Swimming the surface and depths
Swim till He calls you by name

Then drown once more in His love
Let go your flesh and your blood
Release every earthly breath
Power stroke straight through death

God’s love is unfathomable
No limit on eternity’s flow
A place where pure love grows
And all hearts are healed and whole
