Looking down on the primroses, daisies, and lilies
that carpeted the landscape
She raised her face to the sun,
Soaking in rays from the orb, from its rising to its descent
Vital energy needed to embellish her crowning glory.
As the days grew shorter and the shadows increased,
Her petals curled and bright colors faded
Now her once straight spine bent and stooped,
Could hardly carry her burnished head
Raindrops rolled down her cheeks,
Reminders of what could have been.
She bowed her head, knowing time was short,
Acknowledging life came from her Creator
Her roots drank in the Living Water
Purifying the ground for her future offspring
Even though her season was ending,
Joy sprang forth for the generations to come.
“Charms are false, and woman’s beauty is vain; for it is a wise woman that is blessed and let her praise the fear of the Lord.” Proverbs 31:30 (Brenton Septuagint Translation)
