Such a poignant story. That had to have been so painful when told he'd rather have the grandkids without you. My heart broke for you.
It’s hardest to understand the ones who have hurt or neglected us. God’s amazing grace covers a multitude of sins and sustains a broken heart. Thank you for sharing this.
I'm sorry you went through all of this in your life. Hopefully knowing a little more about him and seeing him in a slightly different light brings a bit of healing. An on topic and honest piece.
I'm so sorry that you had to hear those words from your father, yet relieved you've been able to reconcile it in some way. My heart aches. My father seemed loving when I was a child, but after Mom died, he chose to be with someone who abused him instead of us. I struggled for years not to take it personally. We were able to reconcile just 6 weeks before his death, so I was blessed in that respect. I think I understand on some level how hurtful you must feel at times. But getting to know you through your stories, I see the beauty and strength and faith in you and I feel sad your father missed out on you. Congratulations on ranking 16 overall. Happy Dance.
