Having anticipated all the goings-on at his demise, and being truthful and wise, he had a final word to say. The pre-recorded message, spoken by the man in life, was displayed on screens at various locations.
The reading of the last will and testament of the highly decorated, much-adored man who spent his life blazing trails and leading was a most anticipated event. All eyes and ears were tuned in and waiting, most attentive.
Somber, but kind, he garnered all attention as he seemed to stare into each face and leave a lasting word.
“Time is not your friend,” he began, “and there’s only one reason to be on this earth. Take as many to Heaven as you can. How? The best I can do is leave a clue and tell you that nothing I accomplished counts one bit.”
The rush to understand sent many from the dark to buy the only how-to book he promised had the answer. Holy Scripture changed the town who had worshiped a man they had called their idol.
In the end, the best thing he had ever done was deny the empty honors and point to God for all Glory, a lesson for us all.
