To any pain and suffering
And every bit of misery
The different types may bring.
A pow to violence—
The taking of a human life,
Destroying others’ property
And any kind of strife.
A pow to poverty—
For all the hungry everywhere,
For anyone who is in need
Without someone to care.
A pow to persecution—
To cruelty of senseless deeds
Because of one’s ethnicity
Or one's religious creeds.
A pow to irreverence—
The name of God is thus decried,
Obedience to Him defied,
His holiness denied.
A pow to mistreatment—
To children and the elderly,
To all who are without defense,
Whoever they might be.
A pow to devastation—
From storms or floods or raging fires
Or even war upon the land,
And healing that requires.
Before sin came into the world,
Not one of these could then be found.
We’ve hope someday they’ll all be gone
When we are heaven bound.
