“Tongue? Hush! I was just starting to get into the mode.”
“Um… the mode? I mean… it’s just church. We’re here like five times a week.”
“Twice. And does that matter? This is my peaceful place. My sanctuary. My-”
“Donuts! Nose just told me they have fresh donuts by the kitchen! Oooh, and coffee! We need to go that way. Coffee, coffee, coffee!”
“Tongue! Get a hold of yourself! This is not about food. This is about worship. God’s Word. Listening quietly.”
“And fellowship. Right?”
“Ye-”
“And fellowship involves food!”
“Well it… wait, what? No!”
“Haha! Legs and Feet are turning, turning… yes! We’re headed for the munchies. Come to Papa!”
“Tongue, you’re impossible! All you ever think about is eating.”
“And talking. I’m really good at talking.”
“Quite. You’re also good at not coming to me before you say something. How many times have you gotten in trouble because you didn’t listen to me first?”
“Huh? Did you say something?”
“Case in point!”
“Ooh, Brain! Listen! Stomach is growling. See? I was so right to start watering.”
“You-”
“My heart be still - the donuts have chocolate frosting on them this week!”
“Would you listen?! Ears just told me the music is starting. That means we’re going to be late because you wanted a donut.”
“I cn’t hpf ifm th’ bng fer-”
“Don’t talk with your mouth full. It’s disgusting.”
“Aw, don’t be mad. Ooh, this coffee is good. Just wait til you feel the effects. Awesomeness. Pure awesomeness.”
“Tongue, trust me, coffee won’t have any… wowza! My functions just sped up to like, like, like ten times faster!”
“See?! What did I tell you? Okay, now you can tell Legs and Feet to head for the music. I’m satisfied now.”
“Right. Yes. Let’s go to the sanctuary. C’mon, Feet! Steer us in the right direction! Yeehaw!”
“Um… Brain?”
“Yes, Tongue?”
“You’re scaring me.”
“Oh. Sorry. I just… this is really hard. I can’t sit still. Listen to that music! Dance, Legs, dance!”
“Man I’m kinda getting dry with all this singing. I wish I wouldn’t have finished off that coffee so fast. Are we done yet?”
“Yep. Here’s my favorite part, too, when we get to learn more about Jesus. Remember last week? When Pastor mentioned not being a glutton? Huh? Remember?”
“Alright, okay! I’m sorry about the donut! I’ll do better next week.”
“You better, or I’ll… wait, did Pastor just say what we put in our minds is more important than what we put in our mouths?”
“I think so. I mean, Ears aren’t wrong too often. They were just tested last week. Remember-”
“Shush, Tongue! I’m trying to listen! He just said we need to be careful about what we put in our minds because we can crowd out Jesus. I don’t want to do that. Have I done that?”
“Well… I mean you’re not a bad brain. You can be kinda condescending sometimes though.”
“What? Condesc-”
“And sometimes you seem more worried about what I’m doing than what you’re doing.”
“Did Pastor just say we should hunger and thirst for righteousness?”
“I don’t know. Hey, Ears! Is that what he said? Yep, that’s what he said.”
“I suppose that’s my department, huh?”
“Well, I get awful hankerings for donuts, but I’ve never tasted righteousness, so yeah, I think that’s your department. …Brain? You still listening?”
“Hmm? Yeah. Just thinking. Sorry I yelled at you. Eyes got to see some friends because we went that way, and it made Heart happy, so… I guess it was worth a few calories.”
“Aww… are you going soft on me? You’re so sweet when you-”
“Stop it! Behave or I’ll…”
“Yes?”
“I’ll make you eat broccoli for a week.”
“Mm, no can do. We’re going to be back here in a few days, and you know there’s always cookies.”
“Don’t you even-”
“Can’t hear you! Singing again!”
