Their enemy whispers,
“C' mon....just one.
'Just one drink will quench your bleak despair
'Just one shot will block out your unrelenting pain
'Just one bite will assuage your ravenous hunger
'Just one embrace will satisfy your yearning need
'Just one roll of the dice will conquer your drive to excel."
But the afflicted ones learn: one is never enough.
That drink will spark an unquenchable thirst
That shot will set their body on unextinguishable fire
That bite will ignite an insatiable craving
That embrace will kindle an unrelenting obsession
That roll of the dice will begin an unending drive for more
Just one becomes two; becomes three; becomes a million
Until that spark of need becomes an unstoppable avalanche of chaos
But, in the midst of the battle zone, there is a Defender
The only One Who is truly Just
The one Who is the keeper of all hearts, souls, and bodies
When any afflicted one reaches out to Him
He fashions for them a divine place where they can find perfect satisfaction of every need
Within that place, the afflicted one meets:
Just One, Who brings joy; to forever blot out the despair
Just One, Who can give peace; to forever erase the pain
Just One, Who can provide sustenance; to forever assuage the soul’s hunger
Just One, Who brings a heavenly embrace; which will forever give unconditional love
Just One, Who won the ultimate fight; so the afflicted can surrender, at last.
If anyone is afflicted; let them choose to dwell with Him in that sacred place. Within that place, their battle will daily be won.
