with the highest honours recently
she has a unique journey
of frequent doubts, stress, worries
but joy lately
She sobbed and moaned
when failed to shine
in High School exam
Feeling shattered and despaired
not knowing what the future held
Along came older Sis Dort
to guide and counsel
letting go of broken dreams
on nursing she embarked
an unforeseen career path
As Father I recall
her coming home with moist eyes
a mere trainee nurse
seeking to placate supervisors
colleagues and patients
Coping with bullies
and the mean
was no fun
but these were the realities
to cope struggle did Dawn
Poor girl
hardly three months
landed in hospital for a week
treated for an illness
related to job stress and pressure
How my heart ached
the right choice did she make
Was she wired for it
pounded on my heart
relentless anxieties and doubts
At last I cast
all my cares and fears
on Him who cares
decided to sustain
and rally around her with prayers
Unknowingly and slowly
in her favour turned the tide
improved relations
and grades
won her a place in the Uni
Years of hospital training
were her wilderness
beset with trials and testings
of faith and work
she overcame through His grace
To her graduation ceremony I look forward
Were her plans unshattered
dreams unbroken
she would be a different person
from what I now know
Praise God
whose invisible hand
shapes the events
of our lives
He alone turns the tide
