It was a small success today, but a success nonetheless. My master will be thrilled. Myra was just ready to walk out of the convenience store empty-handed, but I convinced her to take that candy bar without paying. She’s only fourteen - just think what I can do with her in a couple more years, once we make this a habit.
Myra was having a bad enough day today that she didn’t even need my help. She was doing quite fine yelling at her parents, and even swore a couple times. I almost cheered. Since I had extra time though, I decided to concentrate on her older brother. Kirk’s a little tougher case. He’s always carried that moral compass around in his pocket, but one of these days, he might just forget to take it with him. His parents wouldn’t let him borrow the car today and I could feel his frustration building.
Today was my day. Myra disrespected her mother, lied about where she was going, and is currently at a party, and in way over her head. To top it all off, I even got Kirk to take the car without asking. His father is furious, so, of course, I took advantage of that, too, and he’s now yelling at his wife. The whole house is in beautiful chaos.
Six weeks in, and Myra is already up to stealing from the clothing store. Even I didn’t think she would progress so quickly. Of course, I recruited one of her friends to help. Becky already belongs to my master, so that part was easy. Myra is becoming more and more pliable.
Summer is my favorite time. There is so much to do. So many choices. So many bad decisions to be made. It’s like hell on earth. My master is in his best mood this time of year. Everybody wants out of the heat. They all start going on vacations, and get this - the churches are emptier than ever. Talk about easy targets. Myra’s family has never been easier to get to.
Myra got busted today. I might be worried they’d set her straight, but she’s so angry, that I don’t think it’s anything to be concerned about. Her parents are livid. Kirk is acting out - I stole his compass last night, and it’s already working. He didn’t even remember to thank his mom for breakfast this morning. He has no idea what I’ve been doing the last few months. Sometimes this can be hard, waiting so long for results, but it’s the small steps that really make it in the end. By the time my victims fall, they have no idea how they got there.
I love my job. Tonight I just sat back and watched the chaos roll. This family is a mess and getting messier. If they keep this up, I won’t even be needed anymore. They’ll belong to my master in no time.
Kirk is slipping through my talons. One of his idiotic Christian friends got a hold of him today after school. Invited him back to church, and even had the gall to pray for him. I tried to interfere, but then one of those angels showed up, and there was no way I was going to mess with that giant of a warrior. My master might not be happy, but at least I’m still alive. I may have to give up on the boy though. Once somebody starts praying for a victim, it’s ten times harder to win them over. He’s just one person. I have plenty of other targets.
So glad Myra doesn’t have friends looking out for her like Kirk does. Thankfully his little turn-around hasn’t affected her. In fact, I’ve surrounded her with all available minions, while distracting everyone else so they haven’t thought about inviting her to church or praying for her. It’s working pretty well, if I do say so myself. If I would have thought of it sooner, I might have been able to keep hold of Kirk. Win some and lose some, I guess. Myra is planning to run away tomorrow, and I can’t wait. As long as nobody suspects my involvement, it’s going to be smooth sailing from here on out.
