We first want to thank You for bringing us together, and for allowing us to worship You. We love You, we adore You, we trust You. In You we live and move and have our being. (from Acts 17:28 NIV)
You created us from dust, and Your breath gave us life. You formed every part of our bodies: top to bottom, left to right, front to back, inside and out. You know all of our intricate parts, and of course You know how we function.
You know each and every person individually, with all of our oddities, our idiosyncrasies. You know the physical makeup of all of us, our medical histories, our allergies, our sensitivities. You know the story of every old scar, physical and emotional. You know us right down to the microscopic level, the cellular level, and further.
Who could know better than You all about the diseases we carry?
Who understands better than You do about sickness?
For You, O Lord, are All Knowing.
We stand before You here, and You know our needs.
Please, Lord, stretch out Your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of Your Holy servant, Jesus. (from Acts 4:30 NIV) Yes, we are asking You to heal those we lift up in prayer. Heal their bodies, and make them whole and healthy again.
Guide the hands of those in the medical profession who are helping. Make their hands steady and strong, and capable of the necessary work. Calm their thoughts, and bring to mind any medicines or treatments that would be beneficial to Your sick child.
To heal and to bring glory to Yourself, we ask that You, for each person, would reach beyond all the science and information and technology to cleanse the whole body of all ailments. Lower feverish temperatures, reduce swelling and inflammation, and restore the complex and amazing bodily systems to their intended original functionality. Bring balance and wholeness and perfectly modulated numbers and levels throughout every molecule, every cell.
Provide restorative rest for those we are lifting up to You, and infuse their bodies with strength and stamina, with easy movement and flexibility. Banish pain, in all its forms. Let us all know, as we watch in awe, that You are God, and You are the Great Physician.
And now, Lord, we must acknowledge Your will, and that it is sometimes a mystery to us. If You, in Your wisdom, should choose to answer our prayer for healing with a No, help us to accept Your will in this matter. We may never understand Your purposes, and the results may be painful, but help us. Help us to continue to love You, adore You, and trust You, even when Your answer is the Unknowable No.
Remind us that “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1, KJV)
Wrap us in Your all-encompassing arms, and overwhelm us with the assurance that You love us, always.
We thank You now, we will thank You tomorrow, and we will thank You all the days after that for Your unfailing love.
