Sometimes I want to take a stand
Against injustice in our land.
The unborn's rights, unequal pay,
Folk without place to stay.
Gambling, drink, drugs, 'Ice'
They don't lead to paradise.
Let's shout it loud and motivate.
Please oh please no more debate!
Let folks see a different view,
They live life without a clue
Drifting along, head held high
Looking at a cloudless sky.
What are ways we can be heard?
A protest march without word?
On a pole for a lengthy squat?
Or form a group to boycott?
I read today, in God's Word,
Though it might seem absurd,
There were boycotts back then
By a woman and three men.
Queen Vashti said 'That's enough.”
When Xerxes said “Strut your stuff.”
She stood firm and didn't moan
Even though she lost her throne.
To find a queen of real beauty
King's seeking men did their duty,
And God sent Esther, by His grace,
Which later saved the Jewish race.
Shadrach, Meshach, Abednigo
All refused to bow down low
Though King Neb declared they must
Worship his image and hit the dust.
Furnace hot, they weren't afraid,
They trusted God and they prayed.
Neb amazed they survived the blaze
Declared that all must give God praise.
Boycotts work powered by prayer.
We need to know how and where
Our Lord wants us to make a move
And His mighty power prove.
I will wait to hear from Him
Even though times look grim.
He's know the time, why and what
If He wants me to boycott.
