Then, it’s of no wonder that her two Chihuahua dogs, Chili and Chachi, would be any different—they too have cell phones, and text all day to each other. They are big into using Emojis—pictures or images used in texting to convey thoughts, feelings, or reactions.
Let’s snoop in on their canine fun of texting.
It is a snowy day…
Chachi: Will you go make a path for me?
Chili: A path for what?
Chachi: I looked out the doggie door. The snow is too deep to do my business.
Chili: Ha! Ha! Hold it until I’m ready (sarcastic face).
Not much longer, Chili arrives at the doggie door. Four inches of fresh, wet snow is already on the ground. He goes out and quickly returns; his tiny Chihuahua feet hate the cold, but nature called.
Chili: Your path is ready.
Chachi: Thanks bud (smiley face blowing a kiss).
It’s a typical day; the boys hanging out in the living room…
Chili: Quit jumping on me!
Chachi: I can’t. I’m the Alpha dog.
Chili: (scoffed face) You’re a squirt. I’m bigger. That makes me Alpha.
Chachi: NO. IT’S BASED ON AGE. I’M OLDER.
Chili: Big deal (unimpressed face).
Chachi: You can’t handle the truth.
Saturday is cook’s night off…
Chachi: STOP sniffing my business card (annoyed face).
Chili: But I want to know what you ate.
Chachi: I ate take out, just like you (three tacos).
Chili: Oh, yeah. Dad took me for a car ride (car and dog).
Chachi: I didn't want to go (rolling eyes).
Chili: You're just jealous.
Their ears perk up, a lot…
Chili: I HEARD A NOISE!! I HEARD A NOISE!! I HEARD A NOISE!!
Chili jumps on the sofa and looks out the window.
Chachi: (window) See anything?
Chachi: DOOR BELL, DOOR BELL, DOOR BELL!!
After Mandy opens the door…
Chili: Let me see.
Chachi: (angry face) Move over space hog.
It’s wash day…
Chachi: I like how our blankets on the couch smell.
Chili: Me too (smiley face).
Chachi: But grandma makes them smell funny.
Chili: I like them smelling like us.
Chachi: So do I (smiley face).
Chili: Oh, no! Grandma is taking our blankets again! (fuming face).
They are hungry for a snack…
Chili: Let’s go see if mom will give us a treat (dog bone).
Chachi: I’m in.
Chili: Maybe if I dance around on my hind legs I can impress her.
Chachi: I'm gonna sit like a good dog begging with my eyes and titling my head.
Chili: That didn't work. Let's find grandma (dog bone).
Chachi: Yeah, she always gives us treats.
Boys will be boys…
Chachi: STOP THAT!
Chachi: Don't act dumb. You keep gnawing at my leg.
Chili: I'm playing.
Chachi: No, you're not; you're just hungry. Food's in the dish.
Chili: I'll go bug mom.
Dad’s home from work…
Chili: What is that smell?
Chachi: I dunno. Let's go check it out.
Chili: Dad's eating. Let's go get some (dinner place setting).
Chachi: Rats! Even sitting up like a Meerkat got you nothing.
Chili: Let's go ask again.
Chachi: That got us nowhere (sad face).
It is amazing what dogs can do when observing their masters from day-to-day. Now, if only Chachi and Chili count invent a mute button on their collars to adjust their loud barking.
