Controlling all her kin.
She was the leader, matriarch
Who led them from within.
She’d hoped they’d pull together since
Miranda Ant had died,
But they all went in their own ways,
No matter how she tried.
Now Annie Ant was all grown up
And had become a whiner.
She’d taken Aunt Miranda’s place,
Who’d been quite a maligner.
Though Clarence Ant was quite content
To carry dirt along,
He’d waste time dilly dallying
While squeaking out a song.
Both Clancy Ant and Randy Ant
Were way too critical.
They took delight in finding fault
And did no work at all.
Sweet Brandon Ant used kindly words,
A pleasant little feller,
But Nancy Ant who tried to boss
Was known to be a yeller.
Amanda Ant would fuss all day
Because work wasn’t fun,
Just wishing as she trudged along
That all her toil was done.
Then one sad day when hill they’d made
Collapsed upon the sand,
They found for “house” the saying true:
Divided—it can’t stand.
