Just as an automobile has many moving parts synchronized to work together, our bodies are made from a delicate heap of dust, orchestrated by our Maker, to form cells, organs, and certain systems that start our body engines. A V-8 engine pales to the power of our hearts, as "blood carries food and oxygen to every part of the body. The heart pumps an average of six liters of blood every minute, and in one day pumps enough blood to fill more than forty 50-gallon drums" (Joseph Paturi, Creation magazine, Sept. 1998).
Dependable trucks are designed to handle well traveling; anti-lock brakes, stability factors, fog lights, air bags, and the proper windshield wipers keep you from going off the road. Older models that have been neglected over the years, break down easily, and can cause dangerous accidents. God's promises are a special insurance policy to believers that keeps us from experiencing loss in our lives. In Deuteronomy 32:4, God is the Rock… "his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he." Chevrolet trucks, may claim to be "Like a Rock," but they still may overheat in 100-degree weather. The human body has an automatic cooling and heating system that keep our bodies at a calm 98.6 temperature.
The Ford F-150, received a rating of "good" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in 2016 (USA Today, April, 2016). The pick-up truck was top in its group for protecting people from crashes, and using technology to warn drivers of possible dangerous situations. This rating was acceptable to prospective buyers, but not as mind-boggling as God's 100% unlimited warranty on our human machine. David Harris, from the Message Magazine Online Devotional, sums this up perfectly. "The replacement warranty on our lives says that if anyone realizes, by the power of the Holy Ghost, that their lives are (broken), He will replace it for an upgraded model; a model that will not fall apart or malfunction. We all need to have our lives replaced for a complete life in Christ… " (December 9, 2014).
Our delicate human bodies crave the idea of comfort in everything. Whether it be a car with cruise control, power windows, leather seats, or air-conditioning, these improvements can bolster our frame of mind. No matter where the road leads us, it is comforting to know that God is in charge. We may feel insecure, but our "King of the Road," can direct our travels like no other can. David Guzik’s commentary in the Study Guide of Isaiah 40* says, “… Building a road is very much like the preparation God must do in our hearts. They are both expensive, they both must deal with many different problems and environments, and they both take an expert engineer." With God’s help, we can assemble the inadequacies of our lives to keep us on the true highway of life. Just like the BMW is the “Ultimate Driving Machine,” we also, can maintain a tough veneer, highly polished, and driven for the Lord.
