Mercy is mine from asking,
I touch the hem of His robe,
In his light I am basking.
Humbly I give Him my sin,
My tears glisten on my cheek,
Heart afire, I offer all,
As I am one of the meek.
He lifts me up from Hell’s floor,
Gently speaking soft and low,
He touches my soul so deep,
My spirit is all aglow.
I rise from my darkest day,
To greet Him as the lamb lost,
He fills my soul with His grace,
My repentance I exhaust.
A weight lifts off my shoulders,
Blessed with a feeling so fine,
Warmth flows through every vein,
My spirit feels so divine.
What is this rare feeling?
I’ve never known it before,
It seems I’ve always sought it,
Behind every closed door.
It courses through my body,
To replace sorrow and pain,
It cleanses my soul throughout,
And leaves me without a stain.
I know the feeling is Christ,
He came from Heaven above,
To remove my sinfulness,
And replace it with His love.
