Of solitude and peace
To still the storm that stirs within
Allow my cares to cease
How simple if I could just say
That Jesus is to blame
His actions don’t explain away
My sharp and searing shame
I saw the upturned tables spill
The coins upon the floor
I heard His words of censure fall
Inflamed by what He saw
I’d never talked, or spoke against
The temple market stalls
The sly, pernicious haggling
Within these holy walls
His anger was magnificent
His rage like blazing fire
To repossess on Gods’ behalf
God’s house, God’s heart’s desire
Such passion for the things of God
‘Midst hearts that burn so cold
Among the quiet whispers strode
A man who spoke so bold
The market clamour now I see
Through His unblemished gaze
That holiness was forced to dwell
So close to crooked ways
I let the market happen never
Stood to halt the trade
My silence was acceptance, I
The Ageless One betrayed
The shrapnel from His words will be
Embedded deep inside
I’ll make my stand with passion now
When I and sin collide
