You guys are in trouble. You, under the bed: go find some other kid’s bed to hide under. You, in the closet: say g’bye to my stuff.
You guys are outa here.
See this? See this pitcher? Yeah, it’s scary, isn’t it?
His name is Big Blue.
See, here’s what happened: tonight, after you guys came growlin’ and glarin’ at me, I tole my sister Gloria about you. She’s watchin’ me tonight ‘cuz Mom and Dad are out dancin’ some place for their "annie- verses". She was busy, talkin’ to her boyfriend on the phone – like she always does. So she called me a big dork, like always does and told me you monsters are all in my ‘magination.
Well, I know what that is. My teacher, Miss Williams, tole us about it. 'Magination is what’s in my brain and helps me dream or plan or make believe.
So, after Gloria tole me you guys are all in my ‘magination, she said, “So, Dork Breath: since those monsters are in your ‘magination, just use your ‘magination to get rid of them.” And then she laughed and made kissy noises to her boyfriend.
So, I used my ‘magination and drew a monster of my own. That’s him, there: Big Blue.
He’s not like you guys. He’s wouldn’t be mean to kids; he’s just mean to bad monsters, like you.
I drawed him and I’m gonna put him on my wall. He’ll keep you bad guys away. Lookit him: yeah, you guys are scared of him, aren’t you?
Big Blue has claws like you do, but they can’t hurt me. He gots a loud growl like yours, too – but his isn’t growlin’ at me, it’s growlin’ at you, to proteck me. See those mean ole eyes? Yeah, they’re glarin’ at you; to tell you to keep away from me.
I colored him blue and named him Big Blue, ‘cuz blue’s the strongest color there is. Blue is the color of the sky, where heaven is. God lives in heaven and He’s stronger than anything, so He wouldn’t pick a wimpy place to stick heaven in. So, the sky gots to be strong.
Blue is also part of Superman’s uniform, and you can’t tell me he’d pick a scardey-cat color. It’s the color of that stinky medicine Gramma puts on her feet after work and she’s says it’s gotta be strong to make her arthur-itis go away. And blue is on the Merrican flag, and it’s the color of that big ole pot Mom puts on our campfires. That pot is stronger than fire, so that’s really strong.
But, most of all, it’s the color of my Daddy’s eyes. Yeah, that’s right: my Daddy, the Mareen. You guys wouldn’t be growlin’ at me if he was home, would you? My Daddy’s the biggest, toughest soljer in the whole Mareen Core and you guys never even tried to come to my house before he hadta go to dumb ole Eye-Rack. So, yeah – Big Blue is just as tough as my Daddy, so you guys gotta respeck that.
So, here’s Big Blue. He’s gonna stay here on my wall, right above my bed, so even if you forget for a few minutes and decide to come back, he’ll be right there to remind you so you don’t bother me again.
So, stay away, monster. There’s a new monster in town.
My monster: Big Blue.
