Surrendering to the daydream, praying this time I will find
That faded face of sunshine, those eyes of morning dew,
The playful crescent girlish smile--the “me” that I once knew.
Playtime childish giggles used to tickle summer’s breeze
Which rippled then with laughter, easy as you please.
Carefree and innocent describe most days of youth
When life was so simple and everything was truth.
I was jumping over rainbows and catching falling stars,
Talking to the moon at night, launching dreams up to Mars.
The Milky Way was magic, the Big Dipper held my plans,
Then nothing dulled my senses in this place where gold was panned.
Red passion garnished dreams that were tied with moonbeam tails,
And when I ventured off, it was on a stardust trail.
One night while on a porch swing, a blue moon winked at me,
I thought I heard him whisper, “Be all that you can be.”
God, grant me childhood wishes that were born of pure heart,
Help me feel what I felt then, please show me where to start.
Help me to recapture moonbeams stolen from my clutch,
Point me north, I need you Lord, I’ve long been out of touch.
Proverbs 4:12; 23 If you live a life guided by wisdom, you won’t limp or stumble as you run. Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do. (NLT)
