I wasn't sure, I'm so myopic
I had my wife repeat it twice
Into my one good ear.
Pen in hand, I now endeavor
To keep it short and still be clever
Surely there is something nice
About Sundays my dear?
They're Christian folk, so they'll be wanting
An article that will be flaunting
Something to do with the church
At least that's what I think
Something more than our arriving
Early so without conniving
We get a lovely parking perch
Without making a stink
The music? Well, I'd write of that
But our tenor's like a wounded cat
The weekly message? Not too bad
Unmemorable at best
So, what does make our Sundays cool?
Not learning of the golden rule
Really, it's just being glad
How God has truly blessed
My wife, now reading what I've writ
Is smirking more than just a bit
She says I got the topic wrong
And something 'bout a fool
I get it, oh I should have seen
The topic's more of Halloween!
I'll type up something very strong
Portraying Sunday's ... ghoul.
