His wife, Lisa, gave him a quick peck on the lips as she headed for the shower. “Don’t forget, I’ve got that all-day women’s conference. You’ll have to take Judy to daycare.”
Breakfast was a hurried affair, with cereal for everyone including the nine-month old Judy. “Here’s a bottle to give her after you get her in the car seat,” Lisa said as she picked up her purse and books and headed out the door.
In no time, Devin was ready to leave too. And then he remembered. He had to go by Alice’s and pray with her before she left for the out-of-town hospital. Strapping Judy into the car seat, he handed her the bottle. As he drove, his mind whirled with all the duties he needed to accomplish that day.
After a longer than expected stop at Alice’s, Devin checked his watch. He was going to be late for the Elder’s meeting. Driving slightly above the speed limit, he arrived at the church just in time. He hurriedly parked in the spot at the edge of the parking lot where there would be shade by late afternoon, so his steering wheel and seat wouldn’t be too hot.
The day flew by. Elma and Ben came by for marriage counseling. The lunch staff meeting hit a few snags and lasted 30 minutes past schedule. That made him hurry back to his office to put out a few more fires and work on his sermon.
And through it all, he talked to God. “I’m so grateful I can be of service to You. Thanks so much for this opportunity.”
Tired, but feeling good as he reviewed all he had gotten done that day, Devin climbed in his car and drove home. When he walked in the house, Lisa was already home. After a hug, she asked, “Why didn’t you bring Judy in?”
Devin’s world tilted. As he lunged for the door, he knocked over a chair. “Judy. Judy.” He screamed as he ran to the car. A confused Lisa followed him. Devin screamed and screamed as he struggled to undo the straps and remove Judy’s body.
Lisa’s screams soon joined his.

Such an honest, albeit bleak, look at the topic. I think, hard as this was to read, that it might well place.
