Conditions of my heart
resemble soil
sometimes
rocky, full of stones
dry and arid its nature
At times soft
and fertile
ready for a season
of germination
and splendid growth
Help me tend the garden
with love
and great care
mindful of the fruits
the soil yields
May I remove
the wild grass and tares
least they crowd the plants
and deprive them
of nutrients, water and air
Let me sow the seeds
of contentment
that I may enjoy
peace and harmony
with those I meet and work daily
the seeds
of kindness
and forgiveness
in places of strife
where mean spirit multiplies
the seeds of harmony
to displace discord
and disunity
where there is peace preserve peace
where there is none promote peace
the seeds
of thoughtfulness
to rejoice
with those who rejoice
to mourn with those who mourn
So teach me the way
of the Great Gardener
my Creator, I cry
for You know the depths
of my heart
Guard the trajectory
of my heart
the springs of life
the source of blessings
that well out to others
May Your Spirit
bear His fruit
in my life much deeper
and inner
more enduring above all
Guide me, O Lord, I pray
that my life will thrive
on a higher plane
sowing good seeds
and reaping rich harvests
