I don't know how it started
or where I was
it appeared without a clue
every crevice of my being
filled with anger, bitterness
stress, pain, discomfort
an indestructible creation
or so I thought

without a clue my perfect life
seemingly beautiful to others
fell apart
while the mask
molded and pliable
attached itself
tightly, securely
snuffing out all vital senses

breaking through to freedom
involves truth and risks...
risks of rejection, loss, more pain.
I prayed, begged, cried
listened to His clue

It took time courage and strength
to crack through the mask
of the ugly, uglier, ugliest
to get to the me
God created

“I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth—Praise to our God; Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.” Psalm 40 1-3 NKJV)
