Until you interfered with our linen press it looked neat and tidy. Folded sheets were lined up in stacks according to bed size and color.
Your invention and the production of fitted sheets has given me a headache.
I’ll give you credit for making our beds look neater when made up; no longer do we have to make envelope corners on the bottom sheet. No longer does the bottom sheet become untucked. But then, no one sees the bottom sheet on the bed, so what if it does become a little untucked, I can cope with that.
My main complaint is folding the bottom sheet. It is no longer an easy task. In the old days when I was a child, my brother and I had the task of folding the sheets. Standing opposite each other we held the corners then folded the outside edges together, folded again till we had a long narrow rectangle. Top to bottom a couple of times and we had a small neat small to sit on mum’s shelf.
It takes time now to fold the bottom sheet and then it is not neat. Corners into corners, then some sort of fold that is not perfect as the elastic scrunches up the sheet to sit untidily on the shelf.
Not content with this, you invented fitted top sheets. The bottom of the top sheet is now elasticized to help the sheet stay on the bed. Because of you it is impossible to buy a set of sheets with two unfitted sheets.
I guess you are a man, as untidiness and disorder come with the territory.
I am proud of my tidy, orderly cupboards and am embarrassed to open the linen press as doing so reveals untidy stacks of sheets.
Thankfully you have not tampered with the towels that sit neatly folded in stacks according to color on my shelves.
