The disciples looked at each other, Who could it be? Not I!
The twelve disciples were with Jesus for three years. He chose each one, including Judas. They sat under His teaching, saw the healings, shared meals with Him, slept under the same starry skies, walked and talked with Him, witnessed Him walk on water, marveled as Him calmed the stormy sea, and saw the dead rise again. They were with Him when He set His face resolutely to go to Jerusalem for the Passover even though He had warned that He would be taken and killed while there.
Who could it be?
Jesus had treated them all the same. He did not shun any. Peter, James, and John were with Him at special times and at times Peter seemed to be the “leader” of the disciples but none were elevated above the others. Jesus gave no indication that He knew who would betray Him yet He knew who this would be before the foundation of the world. The disciples had no idea it would be Judas Iscariot. Judas carried the money bag and stole from it with the full knowledge of Christ. He loved Judas as much as the other disciples even though he would be the one who would “sell” Him for thirty pieces of silver. He was not treated any different in the eyes of the disciples.
Who could it be?
The night before He was crucified He washed the disciples’ feet, including Judas’. He broke bread with them all, including Judas. He passed the New Testament cup around for all to partake, including Judas. Not even John, positioned beside Jesus, knew who it was and had to ask. John was answered in such a way that none of the disciples realized who it was, not even when the Lord told Judas to quickly do what he had to do (betray the Son of God). Jesus taught love and grace. He lived love and grace.
On the cross, through pain and humiliation, He asked the Father, “Forgive them for they know not what they do”. Even in death He “lived” love and grace.
Searching my heart I find many people I have not forgiven completely. Can I ever be like my Lord?
With God nothing is impossible; if I let Him.

1 Peter 3:15 - But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and [be] ready always to [give] an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
