He cares so much about me that you’d almost think I was his only employee, but I’m not. He has thousands of others to think about, but somehow, he always makes each of us feel special. I know it sounds crazy, but he actually paid a huge price to get me this job. What boss does that? It was an incredible sacrifice for him - it overwhelms me when I think about it. The least I can do is give him my undying loyalty and my very best effort.
The pay system is unique. Most of my salary will be paid after retirement, but in the meantime, I get paid on a needs basis. When I ask for something I really need, he gives it to me. He never gives me so much that I can squander it on silly things, but he always gives me enough for the basics. If I do good things under his direction and with his help and blessing – he keeps account of these and promises me a huge bonus on my retirement.
Sometimes I get asked to do things that seem so impossible for me. Like the other day he asked me to give a speech to a lot of people, and I hate public speaking! I told him that there is someone else who would do a much better job, that I didn’t feel well, and didn’t have the time. He just smiled, and asked me again. I knew if I refused, he’d go ahead and ask someone else, and I’d then feel bad, so I did it, and it went okay. But even if I wimp out he never seems to hold it against me. Instead, He gives me another chance, and when I say “yes” it makes me feel so good. I’ve worked for him for so long that by now I should know I can trust him! I should know that if I do what he asks in the way he instructs me, everything will turn out.
I started this job when I was a teen, and though I was a pretty untrustworthy employee for a lot of years, my boss never threatened to fire me. Instead, he kept giving me just the right assignments to help me grow and change. When I look back, I realise he developed the perfect training program for me.
My job involves a lot of different things and has changed many times over the years. Lately, it seems like mostly he wants me to recruit others for the job, and then train them the same way he trained me. Strange as it must sound, most people would rather work somewhere else. I guess it’s because they don’t like the pay system. They want all their pay now so they can buy whatever they want. They don’t have the patience to keep asking for what they need every day, and they want more luxuries. I feel so bad when I can’t convince them that this job is far superior to any other they might have. The boss has already paid for them, just like he paid for me and it seems so ungrateful of them not to realise that and come work for him too!
I was really tired the other day, and felt like I needed some time off. It’s kind of a 24/7 job. He said just to keep going and trust him, but I was worried that he had asked me to do something too hard for me, and that it might not work out this time. He reminded me of something I’d forgotten for awhile – that he is actually able to give me his power to do the job. It’s not up to me to do it by myself. You’d think I’d remember something like that, wouldn’t you! That day I was able to recruit a brand new employee who I had never thought would come on board. His grace really is enough. His power really does show up best when I am weak! That’s something he told me when I was only eighteen years old.
I’m going to do this job until he tells me to quit. Then I get some mind blowing bonuses, and best of all, I actually get to live with my boss. Forever. Unbelievable!
