Seeking good writers, avoiding sensationalism, the “Tribune” was regarded as a provider of credible news. Greely was the first editor to provide bylines for writers and his editorials had great impact among the masses. The legacy of his work continues to effect writers today.
But, was Greely the greatest editor ever? One before him has that distinction.
The apostle John was a prisoner on the Island of Patmos when he heard, “What you see, write in a book…” It became part of the only book ever written that contain no errors. Can I say it this way; the perfect editor edited it perfectly, and inspired the writers that wrote it.
Christian writers today find direction and inspiration through reading the Bible. It challenges us to be faithful in doing the little things, to give generously, to right wrongs, to share God’s love. We are writing the story of our life, and for others.
If we have sought the guidance and approval of the greatest editor ever – the author and finisher of our faith, then boldly submit for publication. Jesus has work for us to do.
R. G. Lee was known far and wide for his sermon Payday Someday>. The greatest payday a Christian writer can have is to hear our editor, our Lord and Savior, say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
This editor doesn’t say “Go West.” Instead, He invites whosoever will to come. That is the underlying theme of Christian writings.
