She reached for her favorite cereal to find only a few squares, so she settled for Rick’s flaky stuff. While driving to work, she realized she had failed to take anything out of the freezer. As she explored quick prep dinner options, she noticed the gas gauge moving past the E. Where is a gas station when you need one? She knew she should have followed Flylady’s advice to fill up at the half tank mark! Stopping for gas now would make her late for work, but she had no choice. She could not remember anything important on her calendar for this morning, but she had not actually looked at her calendar.
This scenario occurred years ago, and since that time Anne has incorporated into her schedule those important “P’s” that managers are taught: prior proper planning! She now checks upcoming calendar items routinely; she keeps a running list of grocery and pharmacy items handy; she plans her menu and shopping in advance; and, she faithfully stops for gas when the needle reaches the halfway point. Because of better organization, she no longer wrestles with plummeting blood sugar and a hungry husband in the evening, and has ample time for Bible study and writing in the morning.

I'd love to have seen a bit more of this - maybe another scene, this one of her with the three p's as a contrast. Your first one is very descriptive - a second would only add to the piece.
Great details - keep writing!
