“Oh Lord we praise you
Oh Lord we magnify you...”
The sound of calypso filled the air as Whitney danced beautifully to the lovely song. Imperial smiled as she watched her. Seeing a depressed woman suddenly dancing to calypso brought joy to her heart. She was glad she was given this special blessings assignment. Locating the street where she was sent wasn’t a problem. She was to enter each house through the unseen gate and pour out God’s special blessings on each house. She had her list showing all the numbers of the buildings and she ticked done on each building when she accomplished her mission. There were 20 houses on the street; so far Mr. Brown at number 2 would get a promotion at work tomorrow, old Mrs. Nickel at number 5 would get great relief from her arthritis. Little Sharon in number 10 would see her parents smile at each other over dinner rather than the usual quarrel and for Whitney, at number 11 the pain of losing her husband of five years is ebbing away as depression has given way to joy and praise. No wonder she was dancing to that lovely calypso praise song.
She had to continue. It was time for number 14. She got to the unseen gate and looked at it in shock, it was locked! She looked at her list, number 14 was written there; the Lowry’s family house. They needed a special blessing for peace and God had sent her to deliver it. She had to. She couldn’t go back to say she couldn’t or didn’t. She checked the list again, who made the request? Who prayed? It was Mr. Lowry’s sister-in-law. But why was the gate locked?
“Imperial think, think, there’s a way out, there must be a way out!” she spoke to herself. Suddenly it dawned on her, she would open it, she must be able to without needing extra help. She looked at the gate again; it was a complex array of chains and padlocks. The best way round this was to break it. Trying to lose it was a waste of time. She stretched her hand toward it when someone pushed her roughly.
“Hey! What did you do that for?!” She looked at the demon before her in utter disbelief.
“The Almighty sent me here, get out of my way!” she shouted. The demon laughed.
“Go tell the Almighty that this is my territory. He made the rules, He should know better. And don’t bother going to house 13, 18, 9, and 19.They are as locked as this one.”
“You liar, isn’t that all you do? The Lowry’s and everyone on this street are on my list and they are getting their blessings.”
“The Lowry’s and the others whose unseen gates are locked don’t serve the Almighty, they are not entitled to special blessings, they are entitled to the general blessings. As you can see, they have a roof over their heads and they can feed. Isn’t that more than enough for you and the Almighty? Must you always want more than the best for everyone?”
“I don’t believe you!” I’m ready to fight my way through”.
“Well, I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” As the demon said that, five bigger demons appeared and surrounded her but just then, a force pulled her out of their midst.
She faced Jasper. “Oh! Thank God you’re here” she panted in relief.
“Imperial, you shouldn’t try to fight demons in their territories.” That’s not your job.
“What? You mean it was really his territory?”
“Yes, Imperial, the Lowry’s don’t serve the Almighty.”
“So how do I deliver all these blessings?”
“Get Mr. Brown to talk to Mr. Lowry about Jesus. If Mr. Lowry accepts Jesus, the chains and padlocks in the Lowry unseen gate will automatically break.”
“But Jasper, how? What if they don’t know each other?”
“There must be a way Imperial. You’re good at making people’s path cross. Try that with Mr. Brown and Mr. Lowry. Also connect all the others whose gates are locked with those whose gates aren’t. People like Mr. Brown are meant to help break the chains when they minister Jesus.”
Imperial was amazed.
“Do they know? Do they know what their soul winning really does? Do they know the implications of their not witnessing about Jesus?”
“They ought to Imperial. It’s all written in the word.”
